The Origin of the Name "Prince George"

Prince George is a small city located in the North Shore, BC. It is situated in the province of British Columbia, Canada. The city is located in the area of the Pacific Ocean and was named after George Victor, a Canadian merchant who was instrumental in promoting the growth of the city in the 1800's.

According to legend, Victoria Street was named after George, because he had a daughter who lived on the street. He later named the street after his wife, Julia Augusta, who was a prominent resident of the area. According to some, George was also a member of the British parliament. There are also stories that claim that he was an expert sailor, and the street was named after him because he made several visits to the nearby wharf.

According to one legend, George Victor and Julia Augusta were married in the port of Nanaimo, but a storm caused the marriage to be annulled. Victoria Street was named in her honor, and it is believed that this was the start of the name "Victor".
