Newmarket (Ontario) is an important town and regional centre of the Regional Municipality of York, in the Canadian state of Ontario. It is situated on the edge of a valley between two mountain ranges. It is part of the Golden Horseshoe area of southern Ontario.

The town of Newmarket is located on the eastern bank of Lake Ontario in southern Ontario, Canada. It is on the east side of Lake Ontario, which forms the southern tip of Georgian Bay, a bay of great geographical importance to the area. Its close proximity to the water means that it is the gateway into Georgian Bay.

The town of Newmarket has been built on the site of a former airport, which was a major industry in its day.
