Fort Mc Murray (Alberta) is a service zone in the municipality of Wood Buffalo, Alberta. It's located at the western edge of the Athabasca Oil Sands, on the northwest corner of Fort MacMurray. It's also the headquarters for the Canadian Northern Transportation Commission (CNTC)

It's known as Aldersorbog because of its many lakes. These are Lake Athabasca, Lake Lloyd, Lake Athabaska and Lake Selkirk. Its name, according to the Canadian Geographic Dictionary, is a contraction of "Albertsorbog"Aldersorbog."

Aldersorbog is the second largest port in Canada and is the third busiest in terms of volume. It's the third busiest port in Canada after Vancouver, British Columbia and Prince Rupert, British Columbia. It's known for its strong marine industry and fishing industry and has the fifth largest container dock in Canada. Aldersorbog is the third largest port in Canada behind Vancouver and Prince Rupert.

Located in northeast Alberta near the Athabasca Oil Sands, it's one of two municipalities that is home to the CNTC. The municipality was created in 1966 with the name of Fort Saskatchewan, which is where it's located. It's part of the City of Calgary. The municipal park district includes the adjacent city park, the Glenmore Park, which features a large statue of the legendary explorer Sir John Franklin.
