Campbell River Island Hwy - A Beginner's Guide

The Campbell River Island Highway is one of the few routes in Australia, which connects the inner and outer regions of the country. It was the first road to connect Victoria and New South Wales and offers a relatively straight journey between the two regions, taking you from Sydney to Melbourne and back again. The journey is also the shortest in the country, only eight hundred miles long, and many tourists find it very exciting, particularly for sightseeing.

When travelling south, the road begins in Carlton on the Northern Beaches, before heading southeast through Adelaide and down into Western Australia. The route then crosses through the Hunter region and travels down to Cumbria, where it ends at Croydon.

Once you pass through Carlton, the road begins to climb its way through the Hunter region, passing through the towns of Rockdale, Waratah and Maitland before reaching its peak, where it passes through the town of Cavan. From here, it heads through Victoria, passing through the city of Ballarat before finishing up at Melbourne.

When you begin to travel south of Melbourne, the Campbell River Island Highway becomes progressively more challenging. The road starts off in the Adelaide Hills, before travelling through the towns of Cairns and Port Augusta, before arriving in the coastal city of Perth. The next section of the highway takes you up through the rugged terrain of the Pilbara, before ending at the town of Maroochydore. From here, you are free to travel all around the state.

Once you reach Maroochydore, the road begins its journey back up the coast towards Melbourne, where it finishes in Adelaide. The journey up the coast is extremely scenic and includes plenty of beautiful scenery, including the beautiful white sands of Cape Otway, as well as the magnificent scenery of Bass Strait. From the end of the highway, the road follows along the coast, eventually ending at the city of Cairns.

From Cairns, the Campbell River Island Highway heads back south, with the last part of the journey leading you into Carlton, where the road ends and the road is opened back up once more, giving you a direct route to Melbourne. Once you reach the city of Melbourne, the road continues to take you through South Australia, before heading back into the inner-suburban areas.

By the time you reach the city of Carlton, the road is completely blocked, with traffic moving to the left, as it passes through the town. So the first thing you will need to do, is to turn right at the next exit, onto Campbell's Beach Road.

By the time you reach the end of Campbell Beach Road, you will find another left turn onto Northbourne Avenue, from which you should continue through the next two streets, finally reaching the end of Campbell River Road, which ends in the small beach in front of the Carlton Surfers Paradise Hotel. Once you reach this point, the Campbell River Island Highway turns left and begins to lead you through the suburbs of Carlton, which provide you with plenty of open areas to drive in, and enjoy your drive.
